The Martin Family Postsecondary Student of the Year Award
About the scholarship:
The Martin Family Foundation has designated $25,000 for a new scholarship program to reward postsecondary students completing a career training program. The Martin Family Student of the Year Awards will be awarded to 10 students in December of 2024 at a reception on campus.
The award is dedicated to recognizing and supporting students who demonstrate outstanding perseverance, determination, and effort in their academic and personal lives. This scholarship celebrates the spirit of trying, resilience, and continuous improvement.
Details:
- Open to postsecondary students in any program who are completing training in the Fall Semester 2024.
- Students complete the application process and the Martin Family Foundation Representatives will review and select 10 students from the application. Each recipient will receive a $2,500 award.
- Awards will be presented at a reception for students, their families and Instructors/Career Advisors.
Benefits:
- Helps create a culture of philanthropy on campus.
- Builds future donors from alumni.
- Gives current adult students a goal to achieve when completing a program.
- Helps launch a deserving student into their career. We know that when we help one adult student, it helps an average of 3 other people in the household.
The Martin Family Foundation and the Francis Tuttle Foundation want Instructor and/or Career Advisor involvement in the application process for these reasons:
- Personal insight into the students’ circumstances. They can provide a more holistic assessment beyond academic performance alone.
- Fairness and Objectivity. They can give a balanced perspective considering both quantitative (grades) and qualitative (character, leadership) factors.
- Identification of student potential
- Encouragement & Motivation. Their participation can inspire and motivate students to work harder, knowing that their efforts and potential are being recognized by being encouraged to complete the application.
